It’s August which means it’s officially time to start swapping out those fun and bright summer makeup shades for warmer, more neutral fall shades. That said, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite eyeshadow palette options for the autumn season ranging in price from $5.00 to $50.00! Following a review of my top eyeshadow palette and a brief tutorial on how to complete a quad eyeshadow look using that palette, you’ll find a range of eyeshadow palettes grouped according to price.
Because I know not everyone has access to a Sephora or Ulta Beauty, I tried to include a couple fall eyeshadow palette options from big-box stores like Target and even Walmart. Tip: If you’re interested in purchasing one of the eyeshadow palettes that is available at multiple stores (I’ve linked the stores below), I would check with both stores before purchasing your palette. Even though the prices are always the same, sometimes certain stores will give you a free makeup gift if you purchase the palette from them!
Top Eyeshadow Palette Selection: Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($42.00)
My favorite eyeshadow palette for fall is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette. Available at Ulta Beauty, Sephora, and Nordstrom, this palette consists of 14 shades. A variety of ultra-matte, duo chrome, and metallic finishes, this palette offers ladies many options when it comes to creating the perfect autumn eye look. Personally, the array of options is what sold me on this palette. The golden honey colors mixed with the romantic pinks, muted oranges, and warm browns make this the perfect versatile palette for me this fall season!
Shades such as Tempera (an ultra-matte velvety beige) and Sultry (a hybrid satin metallic finish warm chocolate brown) pair well with those seasonal cozy cream cardigans and on-trend overall corduroy dresses. In my four-step guide below (adapted from Lindsay Boyers’ article “How to Apply Quad Eye Shadow”), I’ve used four shades in the palette to create a warm fall quad eyeshadow look:
- Start with the lightest color of the quad – in this case, I selected Burnt Orange (an ultra-matte deep orange). Using a flat, more dense eye shadow brush, apply this color over the whole eyelid – from lash line to brow bone. Remember, this is just the foundation shade from which you’ll build your look, so don’t over apply!
- Next, go in with Bronze – a metallic gold bronze – using your finger. While most women tend to use a flat, dense eye shadow brush for this step, I would recommend pressing the color onto your lower lid since it is a metallic shade. Tip: Make sure the color only goes from your lash line to just below the crease of your eye.
- Third, apply Rustic (an ultra-matte deep cinnamon brown) along the crease of your eye to create depth and help define the shape of your eye. For this step, use a rounded crease brush to apply the color from the outer corner of your eye and along your crease in a windshield wiper motion.
- Before applying your last color, be sure to blend all three of your colors in circular motions around your eye. Tip: Focus on the crease area of your eye where all three of your colors come together.
- With your last shade – I’ve opted for Mulberry (an ultra-matte mulberry) – either apply it under your eye (as an eyeliner replacement) or use it to create a dramatic shadow along the outer corner of your eye. Personally, I like doing both, especially when I’m going for a dramatic warm look. Start by applying the dark shadow in the corner of your eye in a sideways “V” shape. Keep applying pigment until you get to your desired intensity. From here, apply the dark shade as you would eyeliner across the lower lash line then blend it all out to soften the look.
Eyeshadow Palette Options under $10
Available at Target, this inexpensive eyeshadow palette is a wonderful option for women who don’t have a big seasonal makeup budget. I realize that most working women out there don’t have $50 dollars to drop on an eyeshadow palette just for the fall season; however, many women do have an extra $5 dollars laying around that they could use to easily glam up their fall makeup look. While you should always keep in mind that with makeup most of the time, you get what you pay for, this 10-shade eyeshadow palette is still a good option for women just wanting to spice up their autumn look a smidgen. The combination of matte, satin, and shimmer finishes make this palette well worth $5! Ideal for all skin tones, the richly pigmented colors blend well together to help you create an affordable fall makeup look.
Located at Walmart or online at Maybelline, this 12-shade palette consists of an array of deep velvet hues, glittery golds, muted browns, and vibrant coppers that are perfect for an edgy, luxe fall look.
Interestingly, Maybelline designed this palette in a way that allows women to create a variety of duo, trio, and quad eyeshadow looks! For example, you can group the left top two and left bottom two shades to create a quad look. Simply color the entire eye area, shade the lid, contour the crease, then line around the eye. If you’re more into the trio eyeshadow look, you could use the left top three shades or right bottom three shades to create a more simple trio look. Merely don’t line around your eye! For my plain Jane girls out there (there’s nothing wrong with a basic makeup look!), you can take the middle top two shades and shade the lid with the lighter of the two shades and contour the crease with the darker of the two shades! For $10, you get 3 quads, 4 trios, and 6 duos out of this single palette! What a deal!

Located at Target or online at Pixi, the Plum Quartz eyeshadow palette is a great, more compact palette for fall. It contains six gemstone-inspired shades ranging from lighter blush pinks to deeper purples. Calling all my conscientious animal lovers out there, this palette has not been tested on animals! To apply shades from this palette, simply start by dusting one of the lighter shades over the entire lid. Tip: Add this light shade to the brow bone or under eye for an eye-brightening effect. Next, use one of the darker shades in the crease and as a liner to define and sculpt your eyes. It’s that simple!
Located at Ulta Beauty and online at ColourPop, this affordable eyeshadow palette includes seven subtle matte options and five more intense metallic selections. A mix of warm, rich coppers and romantic pink shades, this palette is wonderful for my girly girls who love wearing creams, browns, and dusky pinks during the fall season. For instance, you can use a lighter matte shade such as Downright (a soft matte pinky beige) and accent it your crease with a more vibrant metallic option like Be Blunt (a metallic rich raspberry). If you’re planning to keep your fall look more romantic, then I’d go for this palette! Bonus: This palette is rumored to complement multiple skin tones!

Available at Ulta Beauty and online at Clinique, Clinique’s Day into Date eyeshadow duo is perfect for a simple girl on the go this autumn! If big eyeshadow palettes overwhelm you, no worries! This small duo palette is here to save the fall season. Simply use the lighter shade as a base color and the darker shade to counter. Bonus: Besides being approved for those with sensitive eyes, Clinique’s eyeshadows are both fade- and crease-resistant! That’s one of the many reasons it’s one of my favorite skincare and makeup brands! Tip: If you plan to use the applicator in the duo, use the brush-tip side for sweeping the lighter shade across your whole lid and the sponge-tip side to counter along the crease and lower lash line.
Located at Ulta Beauty and online through Morphe, the 35O Nature Glow Eyeshadow Palette gives you everything you need to create a different fall eye look for each day of the season! I mean, HELLO, what girl doesn’t like options in her life… especially when it comes to makeup?!? A balance of matte and shimmery finishes, this palette is often used by popular YouTube beauty vloggers such as Laura Lee (check her out if you’re into makeup tutorials, challenges, and reviews!) to help them create either more neutral or full-on glam eye looks. I don’t know about you, but in every palette I own, there’s at least one shade I never touch, either it’s too bright, too pigmented, or just not my style. That’s not the case with this palette! I can literally use every shimmer and matte shade to create an assortment of different eye looks throughout the whole fall season!
Available at Nordstrom, Ulta Beauty, and online at bareMinerals, the Copper Muse six-shadow GEN NUDE palette features nude and neutral-toned eyeshadow shades designed for those with medium to tan skin tones. This palette has two columns of highly pigmented eyeshadows which have been designed by bareMinerals to work together. The best aspect of this palette is that you can create either a natural eye or a glam eye depending on which shades you combine. For instance, if you were to combine the matte light Gypsy shade with the more metallic Aura shade, you would still come away with a pretty natural autumn look. On the other hand, if you were to combine shades such as the dark brown matte Wildchild and metallic gold Bonfire, you could create a much more dramatic fall eye look. Similar to the Clinique shadows, these bareMineral shadows are both crease- and smudge-resistant.

A brand new palette available at Sephora and Clinique, this eyeshadow palette is one I cannot wait to purchase for this fall! Aside from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette and perhaps one of the cheaper palettes like ColourPop’s Give It To Me Straight Pressed Powder Shadow Palette, this is the only other eyeshadow palette I anticipate buying for the fall! The palette consists of eight versatile shades – Strawberry Fudge, Sahara Sun, and Chocolate Covered Cherry to name a few – that may be mixed and matched to create an array of flattering fall eye looks! One of the things I love best about this palette is that the shades are natural enough for the work day but can be combined in the evening to create a luxe date look!
Available at Ulta Beauty and Sephora, this limited edition eyeshadow palette from Tarte is perfect for all my younger readers out there hoping to up there seasonal school makeup look! Featuring 10 shades and one highlighter, this palette contains both shimmery metallic options and mattes. Personally, I believe shades such as Mystical (a metallic magenta), Twinkle (a metallic gold), and Giggle (a light mauve matte) could really complement a fun fall fashion style. Fun Fact: The makeup in this palette is composed of Amazonian clay and mineral pigments which help balance the skin and prevent the eyeshadow pigments from creasing for fading.

Available at Nordstrom, Ulta Beauty, and online at Laura Geller, this Manhattan-inspired eyeshadow palette is perfect for my girls who like having access to a variety of color options during the fall season.Similar to the Clinique The Best of Black Honey All About Shadow Palette, this palette can be used to create either a more neutral daytime look or a more dramatic evening look. If you’re feeling more feisty then cover your lid in 24K Gold, a metallic gold, and apply Electric Rose, a sizzling reddish copper shade, to your crease. Who knew there were so many seasonal options in one palette!
Available at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and Nordstrom, this 18-shade eyeshadow palette is ideal for any woman who likes to keep it vibrant during the fall season. Although described as a “summer-fresh” palette, I believe the bronzes (such as Puree and Caramelized), purples (like Peach Pit and Talk Derby to Me), and pinks (suchCandied Peach and Bellini are all shades that could easily complement a trendy fall fashion look. Bonus: there’s a golden moss shade called Bless Her Heart (it’s so hard to find quality green shades in palettes!) that is just perfect for all my girls who love accenting their hazel eyes with a green color.
